This Tech Talk will explore the growing challenges and opportunities of artificial intelligence in the context of survivor safety, with a focus on data and privacy. Conversation topics will include how long AI platforms retain user data and the risks posed by data breaches; emerging patterns of misuse; and the dangers of inaccurate or fabricated outputs being introduced in service settings. We will also examine instances of AI "leakage" and data reuse, and the chilling effect that surveillance fears can have on help-seeking. The discussion will also elevate youth-specific concerns, including privacy gaps and the risks young people face when they turn to chatbots for emotional support instead of trusted adults.
